Ohio EPA Asking For Comments On Former Belmont Co. Industrial Site
< < Back toThe Ohio EPA is now accepting public comments about the ongoing clean up project at a former industrial site in Belmont County.
The former Gould Manufacturing facility, located on U.S. Route 40 near Lansing in Bridgeport, is currently under review and a report is expected by September.
Ohio EPA asks all comments be made by June 30.
The concerns will then be addressed in the September report.
According to Ohio EPA, from 1965 to 1987, the former Gould-Bridgeport facility manufactured bearings for engines and as a result industrial wastes were released to various areas of the site.
The agency conducts a review every five years at sites where hazardous waste remains.
The first five-year review in 2007 showed that the actions taken reduced solvent contamination in soil and ground water and also reduced the potential for exposure to solvents at the site.
This is the second five-year review of the Gould-Bridgeport site.
