Science Panel To Release Additional C8 Health Findings
< < Back toA science panel is set to release additional health findings related to residents exposed to a chemical near a DuPont plant near Parkersburg.
The C8 Science Panel is expected to announce the findings Monday after filing them in Wood County Circuit Court.
The panel was created in 2005 as part of a class-action lawsuit against DuPont that claimed perfluorooctanoic acid contaminated water supplies in Ohio and West Virginia. DuPont uses C8 at its Washington Works plant near Parkersburg.
The panel has previously released findings on topics such as reproductive issues, thyroid disease and cholesterol levels.
If the scientists ultimately conclude there is a probable link between health problems and the chemical, also known as C8, DuPont could be forced to spend as much as $235 million on medical monitoring programs.
