Charges Dropped Against OU Student Arrested For Uptown Rape

UPDATE: 1:30 PM An Ohio University student faces rape charges following an early morning incident in the Athens uptown area.
Athens Police officers are investigating a rape they say took place early Friday morning.
A 17-year-old girl told police she had been raped at a residence by a “known subject.”
Police arrested a 19-year-old OU student on Friday and charged him with rape.
He is being held on a $50,000 bond.

According to a release from the police department, the incident happened around 2:15 a.m.
A 17-year-old girl told police she had been raped at a residence by a “known subject.”
Athens police did not release any other information, saying the case is under investigation.
