Zanesville Man To Talk Blindness Prevention In D.C.
< < Back to zanesville-man-talk-blindness-prevention-dcA Zanesville man will head to Washington, D.C., next week to talk to legislators about preventing blindness.
Richard Bunner is going as part of an event called "Eyes on Capitol Hill."
He's lobbying for money he says southeast Ohio could use.
"And oftentimes when you get to southeast Ohio, vision resources are not as prevalent as they are in the larger cities," he said, "so certainly any kind of support that can come out of the federal government through the Centers for Disease Control or Maternal and Child Health Bureau will have a big impact on local health departments."
Bunner is the board chairman of Prevent Blindness Ohio.
"Mostly what we focus on are sort of the two ends of the spectrum… children's vision issues, and certainly, detection of vision problems in children in early childhood are really important, and then we also focus on the adult eye, the aging eye."
The event is scheduled for next Thursday.
