Library Employees Give Strike Notice
< < Back to library-employees-give-strike-noticeLibrary employees in Guernsey County are preparing to strike.
Guernsey County District Public Library officials say employees have given notice of their intent to strike beginning at 12:01 p.m. on Friday, if a contract compromise cannot be reached.
The two main points of contention focus on wages and health insurance.
Library Board officials report that, since 2007, expenses have significantly exceeded revenues.
In 2011, that gap was $206,000.
The district wants to eliminate annual step increases and have employees contribute a greater amount to health insurance premiums.
Representatives from both sides will be meeting with a federal mediator on Thursday to attempt a settlement.
