Officials Putting Generators In Place At Wood County Buildings
< < Back toWood County leaders are taking a note from last month's severe storms and are preparing for any future blackouts by purchasing generators for county operations.
County Administrator Marty Seufer says not having a way to bring the power back hindered emergency relief efforts during the storms on June 29 which caused widespread damage and power outages.
One generator is already in place at the county maintenance building.
The unit was purchased through a federal surplus program.
County officials have plans to buy more generators for other locations, such as the Judge Black Annex, which Seufer says could serve as a useful space in an emergency.
The sheriff's office was also able to buy a generator through a military surplus program, paying just $300 for the unit.
