< < Back to no-alcohol-related-labor-day-weekend-arrests-athens-countyThe Ohio State Highway Patrol Athens Post says there were no alcohol-related arrests over Labor Day weekend.
Authorities say they believe more people were using designated drivers or staying at home this year.
An officer at the Athens Post says there was one fatal crash, 12 non-injury crashes, and 4 injury crashes.
They also say that 1,087 traffic stops were made with close to 699 resulting in enforcement of some kind.
The Washington County post of the patrol reports 276 traffics stops, with seven of those being alcohol-related.
Only three injury accidents took place in the area over the holiday weekend, none of which were reported to be life-threatening.
Last year across the state, troopers arrested almost 700 people for OVI violations.
Troopers reported 15 fatal crashes in Ohio during last year's holiday weekend, with five of those deaths related to alcohol.
No official tally has been released yet for this year's numbers, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol spokesman.
