Ohio Defeats Kent State in Straight Sets
< < Back toThe Ohio Bobcats recorded their second MAC win in a row against Kent State on Thursday night. The Bobcats topped Kent State in three sets; they beat the Golden Flashes 25-19, 28-26, 25-22. Sophomores Chelsea Bilger and Kelly Lamberti had twelve kills each, leading the Bobcat offense.
Bilger had two kills during the first set for the Bobcats. Sophomore Serena Warner received the last four points during the first set, making the final point due to an attack error by Kent State’s Kathy Krupa. This made the final score of the first set 25-19 in favor of Ohio.
In the second set, Kent State was not going down without a fight. Kent State’s Aleksandra Nowak and Kathy Krupa blocked a hit from Lamberti, tying the game up at 25. Ohio’s Faith Robins and Serena Warner then got a clean block to take the lead again. Ohio junior Mollie Geske finished the set with a kill, making the final score of the set 28-26.
Ohio came into the third set determined to finish Kent State off. Ohio never let its guard down throughout the third set, although Kent state received three points in a row at one point, the Bobcats won the set 24-22. Chelsea Bilger then ended the game with a kill, making the final score of the last set 25-22.
With the win, the Bobcats are 2-1 in MAC play. The Bobcats play their fourth MAC game on Sept. 29th against Eastern Michigan at The Convo.
