An Ohio man who headed an interstate prescription drug ring has been sentenced to more than 20 years in prison.

U.S. Attorney William Ihlenfeld says 43-year-old David L. Kidd II, of Martins Ferry, and other members of the ring acquired up to 150,000 oxycodone pills from pain clinics in Florida and South Carolina.

They then distributed the pain pills in the Ohio Valley.

Kidd had pleaded guilty in May to money laundering, drug-conspiracy and contempt of court charges.

He was sentenced this week in U.S. District Court in Wheeling to 21 years and 10 months in prison.

He triggered a nationwide search in October 2011 when he fled home confinement to avoid trial.

He was captured in Oklahoma following a chase that began in Arkansas.
