Gas Line Ruptures In Washington County

“At this point, we are not able to really say it was a gas explosion, although that's what we suspect," says Mincks.
The gas line fire was extinguished Monday night.
The amount of burned acres is unknown so far.
However, Mincks says he believes it was less than 10 acres.
The investigation is ongoing.
A gas line rupture in Newport, Ohio sparked a wildfire that burned acres on Monday.
Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks said a gas line off of Route 7 ruptured just before 5 p.m Monday evening.
Mincks said no injuries were reported.
The fire was spotted by a hunter from his tree stand.
Some of the burned land is located in the Wayne National Forest, but the total amount of acres is still unknown.
Mincks said the reason why the gas line ruptured is unclear.
The Little Muskingum, Newport and St. Mary's Fire Departments all responded to the call.
