New Business Creation Planned In Muskingum Co.
< < Back toAn announcement from The Longaberger Company will bring new businesses to a Muskingum County village.
The Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority said Longaberger announced the creation of the East Central Ohio Business Park in Frazeysburg.
Port Authority Executive Director Mike Jacoby said Longaberger isn't as big as it used to be and has extra space.
The 1.7 million square feet of extra space will be leased to other businesses.
Jacoby said he believes the space would be great for manufacturing jobs to come into the area.
Jacoby also said he thinks the region will benefit from the business park in other ways as well.
"I think there will be some spinoffs in the area with shopping," said Jacoby. "I think in the housing market, you'll see some improvement there as well."
Jacoby said the park has a prime location.
"They're kind of in a plain there, so the ground is flat," said Jacoby. "It's right next to four lane Route 16, so they've got great visibility from the highway and it's not far at all from Columbus."
According to Longaberger, the first company will move into the park in 2013.
Fanatics Inc., an online retailer of sports merchandise, will have a distribution center and expects to employ hundreds of full-time employees.
