Fed Hock Wins TVC-Hocking
< < Back toA hot shooting game from the Federal Hocking Lancers propelled them to 55-51 victory over their TVC-Hocking rival, the Trimble Tomcats. Sean Parsons led the way for the Lancers with 18 points, as he shot 5-for-7 from the field.
The game started with a very slow pace with neither team finding their rhythm. Trimble was called for four early offensive fouls, two of them on Micah Couch, forcing Coach Curt Moore to go to his bench early. The game would be close from beginning to end with the biggest lead belonging to Fed Hock by a mere eight points.
Konner Standley did his best to push Trimble to a victory, by scoring 15 points and dishing out 10 assists, finding players open all night long. Jacob Koons played great tonight as well, finishing with 15 points of his own and holding Max Carney to just nine points, while dealing with the emotions of losing his grandfather earlier this week. However, they were unable to pull out this victory as Federal Hocking would shoot 12-of-23 in the second half, catapulting themselves to a close win.
Now both teams are looking ahead to the playoffs, with each team seeing a winnable matchup as the higher seed, with a trip to The Convo on the line. The No. 3 Lancers are slated to play the No. 6 Meigs Marauders, who finished 9-11 this season and winning four games in a tough TVC-Ohio. The game will be played next Saturday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m.
Trimble will be facing a familiar opponent in Miller that they’ve played twice this season, splitting the series. Miller got the better of Trimble in their more recent matchup, and the Tomcats will be looking for revenge in their No. 3-No. 6 matchup, which will take place on Feb. 26 at 8 p.m.
