Softball: Savannah Jo Dorsey Receives MAC Accolade

The Mid-American Conference announced Tuesday that Ohio softball’s Savannah Jo Dorsey was named MAC East Division Pitcher of the Week, marking the second time this season that a Bobcat player has taken home a conference accolade.

The freshman posted a 2-0 record in the Easton Desert Classic with a 3.97 ERA and 1.78 WHIP. In 12.1 innings pitched, Dorsey allowed seven earned runs and posted 14 strikeouts on the weekend.

Dorsey had solid performances against Louisiana-Monroe and No. 18 UCLA. In just three innings pitched against UL-Monroe, she allowed just one run on one hit and struck out five batters. In five innings of work against the Bruins, she allowed just four earned runs.

Dorsey is now 4-1 on the season with a 3.21 ERA. She leads the team in both categories.

The Bobcats will travel down to the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga Frost Classic, where they’ll take on North Carolina Central, Niagara, Lipscomb, Boston College and Tennessee Tech. The tournament begins on Friday, Feb. 22.
