Proposed Law Would Ban Most Drone Flights In Kentucky
< < Back toMost drones would be prohibited in Kentucky under a proposal that a state representative wants to take up in the next legislative session.
Republican state Rep. Diane St. Onge of Lakeside Park wants to ban drones used for lethal and surveillance purposes, saying the practice violates the state Constitution.
The proposal would allow drone flights by the military for training purposes and by law enforcement when a search warrant has been issued.
St. Onge said drones threaten the privacy and the constitutional rights of Kentuckians. She said such an invasion shouldn't be allowed.
St. Onge dubbed the measure The Citizens' Freedom from Unwarranted Surveillance Act. Though the measure can't be considered until next January, she has already filed a copy with the Legislative Research Commission.
