Ohio Track and Field Wins Seven Events In Final Home Meet
< < Back toThe Ohio Bobcats’ track and field team won seven events at the Athens Open Friday as Alexis Geiger turned in a stellar performance in the long jump.
Geiger’s jump of 6.05m in the long jump could earn her a berth in the NCAA tournament and earned her an automatic bid in the MAC Outdoor Championships. It is the third longest jump in the MAC this season and the 60th best mark in the country.
Senior Danielle Winningham won the 400m dash in a personal-best time of 55.79. Winningham also set a personal best time of 25.70 in the 200m dash, where she finished fourth.
Junior Juli Accurso took the 1500m with a time of 4:53.99. Teammates Kayla Scott and Ashley Waddington finished seventh and 10th, respectively.
Sophomore Karissa Conrad took the 400m hurdles title with a time of 1:04.14, while fellow sophomore Chanda Cuckler finished third in the 100m hurdles.
Cuckler won the high jump with a jump of 1.63m.
In the field, senior Lauren McCullough finished second in both the hammer throw and the javelin throw.
Miranda Richardson earned her first victory of the season with a mark of 3.05m in the pole vault.
The Bobcats' next event is at the MAC Outdoor Championships, held May 9-11 in Akron, Ohio.
