ARTS/West will host a reception for Monstrology, a new exhibit of paintings by Athens artist Emily Beveridge, Friday, Aug. 9 from 6-9 p.m.

Beveridge, an alumna of Ohio University, received her BFA in Painting in 2006.

That same summer, she married her husband, Michael Bart, and began a two-year Americorps VISTA term at Federal Valley Resource Center in Stewart, Ohio.

In 2008, Beveridge completed a series of 12 paintings about extinct bird species called Silent Flight. Since 2005, she has created more than 100 posters for her husband’s dance night at The Union Bar & Grill (DJ Barticus' "Dance or Die").

Beveridge lives in Athens with Bart and their two dogs, and enjoys the use of a large attic/painting studio that she uses full time for her own work as well as commissions.

Monstrology will be on display through mid-August. For more information about Emily Beveridge's work, visit www.emilybeveridge.com.

ARTS/West is located at 132 West State Street in Athens, Ohio. Visit www.artswest.blogspot.com for details.
