Gomez Teruel Named MAC Offensive Player Of The Week
< < Back toLuli Gomez Teruel, a field hockey senior at Ohio, was named the MAC Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, according to the Ohio Athletics website.
Gomez Teruel led the team to a 1-1 record over the weekend of play with six points on three goals. The native of Salta, Argentina, scored her first goal in the Bobcats’ 2-1 victory over William & Mary, and added two more in a loss at Louisville on Sunday.
“Luli had an exceptional game against Louisville,” said head coach Neil Macmillan. “She used a great opportunity on her first goal to pop up in the end of a corner and out in a shot that was heading wide. Then, she scored off a penalty stroke later on for her second goal.”
Gomez Teruel leads the MAC this season in goals (five), goals per game (1.25), points (10) and points per game (2.50).
She’ll have her chance to add on to those statistics as the Bobcats travel to Evanston, Ill., for two matches this weekend. They face Cal at 2 p.m. on Saturday and No. 12 Northwestern at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
