Ohio Cross-Country Faces Stiff Competition At Wake Forest Invitational
< < Back to ohio-cross-country-faces-stiff-competition-wake-forest-invitationalThe Bobcats are riding a wave of momentum, performing well in their first two meets, but they will face tougher teams this Friday as they head into the heart of the season.
The 'Cats will face five teams at the Wake Forest Invitational. Clemson, Wake Forest, Florida State, Miami (Ohio) and Davidson will all be in attendance at the invitational on both the women's and men's sides.
Ohio's men's team has won the first two meets of the season, the Miami Invitational and the Ohio Invitational. On the women's side, the first meet of the year was not scored, but they had a strong performance in Oxford and also won the Ohio Invitational last weekend despite sitting their top five runners. These victories have built up the confidence that the team will need this heading into this next invitational.
Florida State has nationally-ranked teams on both sides as their women's team is ranked second and their men's team is ranked 23rd in the nation. There will be two other ACC teams there, which will also pose a threat to Ohio. The 'Cats hope to pounce on the tough competition to make a statement as to how good they actually are.
The men are set to begin the day's events on Friday when they step off for their 8-kilometer race at 5 p.m. The women will begin their 6-kilometer race at 6 p.m.
