Athens County sheriff’s deputies discovered marijuana, weapons and cash during a traffic stop on Saturday, according to Sheriff Patrick Kelly.

Deputy John Kulchar and canine Ryder assisted the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Officer Dan Perko on a traffic stop off Hunterdon Road, Kelly said.

Robert K. Burns, 60, of Glouster, was stopped and Ryder allegedly alerted officers to the presence of drugs. Three bags of marijuana were found, along with prescription medications, $5,700 in cash and two loaded firearms, Kelly said.

The vehicle, a 2004 GMC Sierra C1500, and everything found in the vehicle were seized.

Burns was cited for a traffic violation, but charges are pending based on the seizures. Laboratory tests are being conducted, according to Kelly.
