All 4 Ohio Casinos Scammed By New York Group
< < Back to all-4-ohio-casinos-scammed-new-york-groupAuthorities say all four Ohio casinos have been hit by a New York crime ring that operates a roulette scam.
The director of enforcement for the Ohio Casino Control Commission says the organized group of about 70 people travels the country pulling off the scam. They've hit the casinos in Cleveland, Toledo, Columbus and Cincinnati.
The Columbus Dispatch reports the scam involves chips used on the roulette table.
The scammers buy a certain color of chips that allows the bettor to set the value. Chips then are secretly passed off to someone else who returns to a table and assigns a higher value to that color of chips.
There have been 13 arrests so far. Four men are scheduled to be sentenced Friday in Cincinnati.
