After a 7-2 victory Friday night against the Kent State Golden Flashes, Ohio was not satisfied. The Bobcats went into Saturday night hungry for more and ran away with their second win of the weekend with a final score of 4-2.

Ohio found itself in a 1-0 hole within the first minute of the game, but the Bobcats responded to tie the game up on Adam Steranko’s first career goal.

And they didn’t stop there. Mike Kretz struck in the Bobcats’ second goal on a power play to give Ohio the 2-1 lead.

Goalie Ian Smith took over the net for the first time this season and kept the Bobcats in front, especially on a great goaltending performance during a 5-on-3 penalty kill for the Flashes. The Bobcats held the 2-1 lead up to the beginning of the third period.

The Bobcats minimized any chance the Flashes had of coming back in this game with their third goal scored by Joe Breslin, who knocked in his first point as a Bobcat off assists by Scott Fasano and John Jeziorewski.

Kretz then followed with his second goal to increase Ohio’s lead, 4-1.

Kent State made a small dent into Ohio’s lead with a late goal scored in the third period, but it was not enough, as Ohio won its ninth consecutive game this year. Three freshmen, Steranko, Breslin and Ramos, showed potential to be great additions to the team, all recording goals for Ohio.

Ohio will attempt to claim their 10th consecutive win this year when they battle the Robert Morris Eagles on Friday, Dec. 13, at Bird Arena. The Eagles will be a tough team to beat, as they were ranked No. 2 in the most recent ACHA rankings compared to No. 7 Ohio. Puck drop is at 7:30 pm.
