Researchers and professors at Ohio University have reason to be happy. The Vice President for Research, Doktor Joseph Shields, has increased the annual financial support for faculty publications.

The last increase from $ 250 to $ 350 is 13 years ago. Since then costs for research projects have escalated, said Shane Gilkey, Assistant Vice President for Research and Sponsored Programs. He added that the new increase to $ 600 per researcher per year would especially help to fund publications in Arts and Hummanities.

"It's because the availability of grants, the resources for sponsered projects, is more limited for the Arts and Hummanities than it is for hard sciences. This is typpically what we have experienced in this institution", Gilkey explained.

The news has already been the reason for new funding requests from Ohio University researchers.
