Hot Shooting And Stout Defense Lead Pioneers Over Cardinals
< < Back toThe Marietta Pioneers defeated the Otterbein Cardinals for the second time this year on Wednesday night and for the second time, they won in blow out fashion. Marietta has beaten the Cardinals twice this season, both by at least 30 points. Wednesday, the Pioneers beat the Cardinals by a final score of 104-68.
Marietta dominated the game from start to finish, ending the first half up 20 and ending the game up 36. Marietta did not lack offense, as they shot over 50 percent from the floor as a team and had four different players in double figure scoring.
Brennan McKean was the big time scorer for the Pioneer tonight. He scored 19 points and shot 62 percent from deep. Ewing, Davis, and Garcia were also big contributors offensively.
Defensively is where Marietta was most impressive, however. Cardinal star player Jake Bischoff was held to only nine points by a stout Marietta defense. Bischoff was averaging 16 points per game before tonight.
The Pioneers move to 14-4 on the year and 9-2 in the OAC. The team will get a chance to avenge one of those losses Saturday when they take on Ohio Northern.
