Former Bobcat Carrie Invited To 2014 NFL Combine
< < Back toFor the third-straight year, the Ohio Bobcats will be represented at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Ind. Former Ohio cornerback and punt returner Travis Carrie received an official invite to show off his skills in the 2014 edition at Lucas Oil Stadium Feb. 22-25.
“He’s been a great player and a great person for our program,” Ohio head coach Frank Solich said. “He really represents Ohio University at the highest level”
The two-time team captain follows behind Indianapolis Colts wide receiver LaVon Brazill and New York Giants guard Eric Herman, both former Bobcats, who attended the NFL Combine in 2012 and 2013, respectively.
Carrie compiled a 12.7 yard punt-return average to lead the Mid-American Conference as well as four interceptions to lead his team in 2013. Those numbers helped him earn All-MAC First Team honors as a punt returner and Third Team honors as a cornerback, and ultimately led to an invite to the biggest pre-draft event.
“You’re happy for those kinds of guys to have a chance to really show their talent to a level where they are able to get to the combine and hopefully have a shot at pro ball and he certainly has the kind of ability,” Solich said.
This will be Carrie’s second pre-draft event after he took part in the 2014 East-West Shrine Game in Tampa, Fla., on Jan. 18.
After helping Ohio make five straight bowl appearance and take home two bowl wins, the former Bobcat now looks to make good enough impressions on NFL front offices to be picked at the 2014 NFL Draft.
