Gebele’s Walkoff Single Gives Ohio Seventh Straight Victory
< < Back to gebeles-walkoff-single-gives-ohio-seventh-straight-victoryTime was winding down with two outs in the bottom of the seventh as junior Adrienne Gebele took the plate. The catcher smacked a single to left field to allow sophomore Alexia Cortez to score and gave Ohio its seventh win in as many games, this time over Troy 5-4.
It was another good day for sophomore Savannah Jo Dorsey (6-0) as the pitcher earned her sixth straight win on the mound.
Troy had come roaring back into the game in the sixth inning as a three-run homer by junior Michelle Phelps leveled the score at four going into the seventh inning.
The Bobcats owe their win in part to the explosion of play in the bottom of the third inning, where they scored four of their five runs.
An error in the third punctuated Troy’s pitching and fielding problems as senior Alexandria Basquez scored the fourth run and put an exclamation point on Ohio’s inning.
Ohio’s other runs were scored by sophomore Amanda Dalton on a single, senior Raven King on a Basquez double and freshman Casie Hutchinson tapped home plate before the error that gave the Bobcats their fourth run.
