< < Back toOhio's governor says a State Highway Patrol post will be renamed in honor of a longtime state lawmaker and judge.
Gov. John Kasich said Monday during his State of the State speech that the Medina post would bear the name of Republican House Speaker William Batchelder.
Medina is home to Batchelder, who's winding up a 46-year career in public service this year.
Kasich was delivering the annual address at the city's Performing Arts Center. The Republican governor has said he selected the location as a tribute to Batchelder. His fans in the audience wore yellow "Batch" buttons in his honor.
Kasich said the Speaker has been a strong and constant booster of the State Highway Patrol and the post would be renamed in honor of his support.
