< < Back to major-ohio-cities-among-8-remaining-candidates-host-2016-rncThe head of the Hamilton County Republican Party says the Cincinnati region has officially made its bid for the next Republican National Convention.
County GOP chairman Alex Triantafilou said the effort has bipartisan and nonpartisan support, as well as backing from neighboring northern Kentucky political business leaders. The chairman told supporters in an email Wednesday night that Cincinnati region representatives will be in Washington on Monday for an hour-long presentation to the site selection committee for the 2016 convention.
Backers see the convention as a potential boon for bringing visitors and attention to Cincinnati and surrounding areas. They also have been promoting Hamilton County's role as a pivotal area in the swing state of Ohio.
Two other Ohio cities, Columbus and Cleveland, are also in the convention competition.
