Kentucky House Deflects Attempts To Reject Health Care Law
< < Back to house-deflects-attempts-reject-health-care-lawThe federal Affordable Care Act dominated debate of Kentucky's $20 billion biennial budget on Thursday.
House Democrats deflected Republican attempts to shrink the state's Medicaid population and eliminate its health insurance marketplace. Both issues will be raised again in November, when Republicans will attempt to seize control of the House from Democrats.
Republicans got 46 of the 51 votes they needed to force the budget amendment to the floor. Of the 30 Democrats that did not vote, 12 will face Republican opponents in November. Democrats have an eight-seat majority in the House.
