Marietta Baseball Opens Home Play Thursday
< < Back to marietta-baseball-opens-home-play-thursdayThe No. 11 Marietta Pioneers open play at Don Schaly Stadium with a doubleheader on Thursday against the La Roche College Redhawks.
The Pioneers are coming off a 6-3 showing at the Snowbird Classic, while the Redhawks most recently dropped a home doubleheader against Baldwin Wallace.
La Roche’s 8-8 record does not show how dangerous of a team it is. The Redhawk pitching staff has a combined 2.98 ERA and has five complete games. The La Roche offense has outscored its opponents 74-57 in 16 games.
Some Redhawks to watch are first baseman Brian Tougher and pitcher Walt Hadjuk. Tougher has been the cornerstone of the Redhawk offense, batting .364 in 55 at-bats this year. He also has 18 RBI. No other Redhawk has more than seven.
Hadjuk is 2-0 in five appearances and two starts. He pitched a complete game earlier this year and is sporting a 2.04 ERA. With Cole Lentz, the Redhawks ace, starting one of the two games against Baldwin Wallace on Tuesday, there is a good possibility Hadjuk will see the mound on Thursday.
First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
