The West Virginia Poison Center says its budget has been fully restored by the state Legislature.

The Register-Herald reports that officials had expressed concerns that the center would close due to proposed cuts in the budget.

But lawmakers last week approved supplemental funding for the center.

Officials say the center receives 42,000 calls annually, from both everyday West Virginians and medical professionals.

The center is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, including holidays.
