The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will distribute about $11 million to West Virginia for conservation and recreation projects.

The funding comes from excise taxes on sales of sporting firearms, ammunition, archery equipment, fishing equipment and tackle, and electric outboard motors. It also includes revenue from fuel taxes on motorboats and small engines.

West Virginia will receive about $8 million through the agency's Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Program. The agency will distribute more than $3 million to the state through its Dingell-Johnson Sport Fish Restoration Program.

Interior Secretary Sally Jewel announced the funding Tuesday in a news release.
