Sex Offender Sentenced To Four Years
< < Back toConvicted sex offender Curtis Carter has been sentenced to four years in prison for a crime he committed in 2007.
Carter of Indiana Avenue in Wellston has been charged with sexual battery.
According to Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney Justin Lovett, Carter was indicted for sexual battery in 2009 for engaging in sexual contact with a minor.
Lovett said that 2010 Carter made a plea agreement with a former prosecutor in which he would plea guilty to the sexual battery charge, in exchange for a second charge of corrupting another with drugs being dismissed and serving a prison sentence of four years.
After the plea hearing that year, Carter disappeared and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Carter was just located this year and has had a sentence hearing.
Carter is currently incarcerated in the Correctional Reception Center in Orient.
