An automatic recount of votes in the race for a judge's seat in Athens County Common Pleas Court has been ordered to take place after provisional ballots from the May primary election were officially counted Friday morning.

Patrick Lang currently holds a four-vote lead over Todd Grace, 1614-1610. Because the tally is so close, an automatic recount is required by law.

William Biddlestone, the other challenger for the seat currently held by outgoing Judge L. Alan Goldsberry, finishes with 575 votes.

The recount will take place on June 2.
