The 4th Annual No Limits Athletics Basketball Camp will be held July 21 – 23 at the Ohio University Lancaster Campus.  The three-day camp held in the Brasee Hall gym gives participants with and without disabilities the opportunity to learn new basketball skills while learning about each other.

The camp was developed by Ohio University Lancaster graduate Cody Sarensen when he was a student at the campus and is supported by Fairfield County Board of Developmental Disabilities. It is an inclusive camp for people with and without disabilities ages 9-21. Sarensen was given an Ohio Public Images Award of Merit for his work promoting awareness of those with developmental disabilities while organizing the first No Limits Basketball Camp. This past year, Sarensen started No Limits Athletics, combining with a tennis clinic with hopes of expanding to other sports.

“The dates for the tennis camp are as follows: July 12, 19, 26 and August 2,” said Berens. “The location is the Lancaster High School tennis courts. We are excited to announce that we are now a United States Tennis Association recognized program, making us one of only three such programs in the state of Ohio.”

This year’s basketball camp will culminate with featured speaker Jim “Basketball” Jones on July 23. Jones is all about individuals developing and harnessing their inner strength and positive mind set to lead a better more fulfilling lives.  He believes we all learn over time and at our own pace, and as long as we never stop learning we will find our own success. At an early age, Jones had to overcome his own learning disability.

“I think this year’s basketball camp is going to be great,” said Sarensen. “No Limits Athletics has both basketball and tennis this year. We would like to continue to expand and give every individual, regardless of their ability, the opportunity to participate in sporting camps.”
