Yazdani’s Game-Winner Nets Him MAC East Special Teams Player of the Week
< < Back toOhio’s redshirt-junior kicker Josiah Yazdani drilled a 44-yard field goal as time expired to give the Bobcats a season-opening 17-14 victory over Kent State on Saturday.
On Monday, the Mid-American Conference announced that Yazdani was the MAC East Special Teams Player of the Week, the third time he has won the award in his career. Aside from the game-winning field goal, he was 2-2 on his extra point attempts, and averaged 65.7 yards on his kickoffs, including one touchback.
Since taking over as Ohio’s kicker last season, Yazdani has made 15 of his 16 field goal attempts, with a career-long of 49-yards. His career 93.7 success rate on field goals is currently the best all-time at Ohio.
Yazdani and the Bobcats hit the field again on Saturday when they travel to Lexington, Kentucky for a battle with the Kentucky Wildcats. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m., with the game scheduled to be broadcast on ESPNU.
