Tri-Valley Looking For 27th Consecutive MVL Win Against Morgan on Friday
< < Back toIn 2013, the Tri-Valley Scotties put a pounding on the Morgan Raiders, beating them 61-0 during Week 2. This season, the Scotties and Raiders meet up in Week 2 again, and this time the Raiders are hoping for a monumental upset.
However, with key players such as quarterback Brock Fargus, running back Daniel Scott, and receiver Hunter Moehler returning, the Scotties are still the MVL favorites.
Last season, Tri-Valley’s (1-0) offense put up a total 400 points in the regular season, with 379 of those points coming against MVL teams. The Scotties also had six victories last season with a margin greater than 30.
The Scotties defense also dominated in 2013, holding opponents in the regular season to a grand total of 146 points, including just 77 against the MVL. Tri-Valley is coming off a dominant 42-6 victory over Licking Valley.
The Raiders (0-1), however, were the complete opposite last season. They finished 1-9 overall, with their only win coming against the West Muskingum Tornadoes. The Raiders only put up 76 total points in the regular season, as they were unable to establish a consistent offensive attack.
The Raiders defense was no better, either, as they allowed 447 total points in the regular season, 387 of those against the MVL. They were shut out in 5 games last season and opened up the 2014 season by getting shut out against Marietta 46-0.
It’s quite likely that a shut out is possible, but with the new mercy rule, it may not be as large. Either way, the Scotties are poised to win their 27th-consecutive MVL game. Kickoff is set for at 7 p.m. on Friday in Dresden.
