Update: Teen Arrested In Hit-And-Run Death Of Bicyclist
< < Back toPolice have charged a Parkersburg teenager in the hit-and-run death of a boy who was riding a bicycle in Wood County.
State Police Sgt. W.K. Marshall says 19-year-old Darren Parsons was charged early Wednesday with leaving the scene of an accident causing death.
The 15-year-old victim’s body was found in a ditch across from a park and ride on West Virginia Route 47 on Tuesday afternoon.
The victim’s name hasn’t been released. Marshall says he was a student at Parkersburg High School.
Wood County Prosecutor Jason Wharton says that investigators believe the incident occurred between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. Monday.
Parsons was being held in the Central Regional Jail. Jail records didn’t indicate whether he has an attorney.
