Week 3 Power Rankings: TVC-Ohio

It’s so-good so-far for the majority of the TVC-Ohio with all but Megis and Vinton County accumulating winning records through the first three weeks. While Athens has lived up to its preseason hype thus far, the middle and top of the conference standings are congested, but could begin to shake up with conference play beginning this weekend.
Until then, here are the TVC-Ohio power rankings heading into week four.
1) Athens Bulldogs (3-0)
It's no surprise that through the first three weeks of the season, the Athens Bulldogs hold a spot atop the TVC-Ohio. The team’s high-caliber offense, run by Joe Burrow, Trae Williams and Ryan Leuhrman among others, have put up a sky-high average of 62 points per-game.
2. River Valley Raiders (3-0)
The Raiders football program has struggled in recent years, but the new season has treated them well with three consecutive wins to begin the year. River Valley’s early defense can be partially attributed to its defense, which has been holding opposing offenses to under 11 points per contest.
3) Wellston Rockets (2-1)
After managing only 13 points in their opening loss to Jackson, the Golden Rockets won their next two games against Huntington and Southeastern by a combined score of 78-37. In those two victories, Wellston racked up 706 rushing yards with 311 coming from running back Nick Cox.
4) Nelsonville-York Buckeyes (2-1)
The Buckeyes have relied heavily on the ground game this season. When effective, they physically wear out their opponents and control the clock. Alex Mount’s 297 rushing yards are good for best of the team so far this season.
5) Alexander Spartans (2-1)
The Spartans have already doubled their 2013 win total, in large part thanks to their defense. Alexander allowed only 12 points through their first two games, including a shutout of Federal Hocking, before allowing 38 in its loss to Unioto.
6) Meigs Marauders (1-2)
Coming off of a successful 7-3 2013 campaign, head coach Mike Bartrum and the Marauders got pushed to the curb after suffering a lopsided 46-13 defeat to Dawson-Bryant in week one. The offense bounced back in a big way the following week when the Marauders topped Fairland 79-69 in a shootout. In Week three, it was another big defeat when SEOAL opponent Logan came away with the 55-7 win In Pomeroy.
7) Vinton County Vikings (0-3)
The 2013 Vikings roared their way to a 3-1 start, but the 2014 Vikings have yet to find their stride. After a two-touchdown loss to Unioto in week one, the Vikings experienced heartbreak against Pikeville when despite a fourth quarter Timmy Ousley rushing touchdown, Vinton County fell 20-18. The Vikings welcomed Bloom-Carroll in week three, but they fell 39-25 for the second time this season.
