Toledo Mayor Says No Reason To Fight Fiat Chrysler
< < Back toToledo's mayor says the city is better off trying to work with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles rather than picking a fight if it decides to pull Jeep Wrangler production out of the city.
State officials along with Toledo Mayor D. Michael Collins met with Fiat Chrysler's CEO last week to begin talks about the future of the Wrangler.
The automaker is looking at moving production of the Wrangler out of Toledo so that it can be made with an aluminum body to meet new government gas-mileage standards.
Fiat Chrysler has assured Toledo officials that employment levels would be kept steady, most likely by bringing in a new vehicle to build.
Collins says that he doesn't want to jeopardize jobs at the plant by taking on the automaker over the Wrangler.
