Athens Woman Dies In Traffic Accident

An Athens woman died in a traffic accident Sunday morning on Route 550 in Athens County, according to the State Highway Patrol.
The patrol said Mindy Mohney, 29, was was driving westbound on Route 550 when her car went left of center and struck an eastbound sport utility vehicle driven by Maria Mack, 33, of Chillicothe. Mohney died at the scene and Mack was taken by Athens County Emergency Medical Services to Ohio Health O'Bleness Hospital with what the patrol described as incapacitating injuries. An O'Bleness spokeswoman said Mack was treated and released.
The accident occurred shortly before 9 a.m. The highway was closed for two hours and 15 minutes, according to the patrol.
