Ohio Men’s Basketball Ranked Second In MAC Preseason Poll
< < Back toThe Mid-American Conference preseason poll was released Tuesday and Saul Phillips’ Ohio squad was selected to finish second in the MAC East in the upcoming 2014-15 season.
The Bobcats received two first-place votes and 92 total points in the poll, putting Ohio behind Akron, who received 17 first-place votes and 117 total points in the poll. Kent State and Buffalo were selected third and fourth with 66 and 58 points, respectively.
Bowling Green, the only other team to receive a MAC East first-place vote, came in fifth with 52 points, and Miami came in sixth with 35 points.
In addition to the preseason poll, the MAC East Preseason All-MAC Team was also released Tuesday. After being awarded All-MAC Second Team in his junior season and putting on a strong showing in the FIBA World Cup, Ohio’s senior forward Maurice Ndour made the cut for the team.
Accompanying Ndour on the team are Akron’s Demetrius Treadwell, Kent State’s Kris Brewer, Bowling Green’s Richaun Holmes and Buffalo’s Will Regan.
Ohio also received one vote to win the MAC Tournament. Toledo was predicted to win the tournament with fifteen votes. Along with Ohio, Akron, Bowling Green, Central Michigan and Western Michigan all received one vote to win the tournament.
The Bobcats take to the hardwood for their first game of the season on Nov. 8. Ohio matches up with Marietta College for a 2 p.m. contest at the Convo.
