Dayton Hopes To Improve Lives Of Minority Males
< < Back to dayton-hopes-improve-lives-minority-malesA southwest Ohio city is implementing a federal initiative focusing on improving the lives of young minority males.
The city of Dayton plans to implement the My Brother's Keeper Community Challenge in the area. The White House initiative aims to improve educational and employment opportunities for young people, namely male minorities.
The city announced earlier this month it would participate in the challenge. Officials said they'll identify ways to ensure young people are prepared for school, can read at the appropriate grade level and graduate high school. The city will also work to develop strategies for young people to finish post-secondary training or education, get jobs and avoid crime and violence
Officials say they hope to merge the initiative with existing Dayton education programs.
