Technical Issues Slows Early Voting In Franklin County

A bandwidth shortage caused a temporary slowdown at an early voting center in central Ohio, where dozens of residents were lined up to vote before Election Day.

A Franklin County Board of Elections spokesman says the slowdown lasted about an hour Monday morning, and computers are now processing voters at full speed.

Board spokesman Ben Piscitelli says between 50 and 100 people were waiting at one point.

The computer issue delayed the board's ability to check voter registration, which is then loaded onto the electronic voting machines to ensure voters get ballots for their correct precincts.

Piscitelli says no votes were lost because of the problem, and it's not expected to have an impact on local polling places Tuesday.

Ohioans can vote early in person until 2 p.m. Monday.
