Gas And Oil Drilling Still Rising In Ohio

Statistics released by the state on Friday show production of oil and natural gas from shale drilling continued its steady increase in the third quarter of the year.
The figures show 3 million barrels of oil and 132 billion cubic feet of natural gas were produced during that period. That's up from 546,000 barrels of oil and 43 billion cubic feet of natural gas in the previous quarter.
The report shows 674 wells produced at least some oil or gas out of the 717 wells drilled in Ohio's shale formations, most of which are in eastern and southeastern Ohio.
Carroll County in northeast Ohio continues to have the largest number of wells and produce the most oil and gas.
