The Bowen House Concert Series on the Lawn will feature The Nostalgics, Lancaster, Ohio’s 18-piece big band, on Saturday, Aug. 8 at 6 p.m.

The Nostalgics were formed more than 24 years ago as an offshoot of the Olivedale Senior Center Concert band, now known as the Lancaster Community Band.

In addition to the band’s popular bi-monthly dance night at Olivedale, the group performs at various Lancaster and Fairfield County venues, including the Downtown Bandstand Summer Series, the Lancaster Festival, Lancaster Country Club, the Lodge in Lancaster, the Eagles, Elks and Moose Lodges, retirement homes, weddings, fundraisers and the Buckeye Lake Yacht Club.

The band, which includes music educators, professional musicians and former U.S. Military musicians, specializes in material from the big band swing era, including arrangements by Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Harry James, Les Brown, Woody Herman, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and others. Also included in the band’s repertoire are well-known pop, rock, blues, Broadway and movie songs.

The concert is being offered free of charge, although donations are appreciated. For more information, visit the Bowen House website.
