NEW CONCORD, Ohio (AP) – Authorities have charged a 20-year-old Ohio college student with killing her newborn baby in April.

Muskingum County Prosecutor Mike Haddox said Emile Weaver was indicted Wednesday on charges of aggravated murder, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence. If she is committed of aggravated murder, she could face life in prison without parole.

Authorities said the body of the newborn girl was found April 22 in a black garbage bag near a university-owned sorority house at Muskingum University.

The coroner ruled that the infant died from asphyxiation, but Haddox declined to say whether authorities believe the baby died before she was put into the bag.

Weaver, of Clarington, was arrested Wednesday and is being held without bond. Records didn’t list an attorney for her.
