Stuart’s Opera House continues its Free Summer Concert Series this Friday, July 31 at 7 p.m. with funk/soul band MojoFlo, along with a special indoor exhibit and beer garden.

Hailing from Columbus, the Toledo Blade says “MojoFlo mixes funk, soul, jazz, hip-hop and reggae in an intoxicating brew that sounds a bit like a more contemporary version of the great funk band Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings.”

The Columbus Dispatch also had praise for the group, singling out Amber Knicole’s “sizzling pipes…MojoFlo rides a wave of old-school swagger mixed with contemporary cool.” The band is no stranger to the Uptown Athens scene, having performed numerous times at Jackie O’s Pub & Brewery.

In addition to the concert, Stuart’s Opera House’s 1879 Gallery will host an opening for Hands UP! an exhibition featuring work from the summer arts camp Circle Round the Square. The exhibit, which includes pieces by 65 Nelsonville-York students, opens at 5:30pm.

On the last Friday of each month from June to September, Stuart’s Opera House hosts free concerts in their parking lot, complete with a beer garden, to coincide with Nelsonville’s Final Fridays on the Square. For more information, visit stuartsoperahouse.org.
