Zane Trace (3-0, 0-0) has been the thorn in Unioto’s (2-1, 0-0) side since 2004, racking up 10 wins over the 11-year span.

On Friday, the Sherman Tanks will get a crack at dethroning the Scioto Valley Conference power house.

Both teams boast a run-heavy, ground-and-pound style of football which allows them to control the pace of the game. Neither team’s passing attack is expected to be much of a factor, but both quarterbacks, Zane Trace’s Joel Dunkle and Unioto’s Erique Hosley, each average over 120 rushing yards per game.

Add the quarterbacks’ numbers to the rest of their respective teams and the totals are substantial. Zane Trace is averaging 272.3 rushing yards per game while Unioto pumps out 210.5 per contest. The Sherman Tanks were averaging 346.5 per game prior to their 149 yard rushing performance in week three.

With both teams likely to put up ludicrous rushing totals, strong play in the trenches will be all the more important on Friday.

One of the conference’s most important games kicks off at 7:30 p.m.
