“ADA 25” Launches a Month-Long Celebration on October 6th
< < Back to ada-25-launches-month-long-celebration-october-6thTuesday, October 6, launches a month-long celebration called “ADA 25” commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The Ohio University Presidential Advisory Council on Disability and Accessibility Planning (PACDAP) is sponsoring, in conjunction with the City of Athens, 26 events in the month of October to celebrate this anniversary.
The kickoff is Oct. 6 at noon in Howard Hall Park with Ohio University President Roderick McDavis and Mayor Paul Wiehl.
Other events will be scheduled throughout the month including a panel discussion from 3-4:40 p.m. in Scripps Hall Auditorium on October 13 and a performance by Dancing Wheels: Lasting Legacy Concert and Tour in Baker Center that night at 7 p.m.
There also will be a session about “therapy dogs” on Monday, October 19 in Grover Center W123 from 2-3 p.m.
The month-long activities conclude on October 27 with a keynote address from noon to 1:30 in Nelson Commons by Scott Lissner, ADA/504 Coordinator for Ohio State University. He will track the evolution of the ADA in “From Exclusion to Universal Design: The ADA’s Past, Present and Future.”
