Ohio Women’ Golf Finishes 2nd at the Rocket Classic< < Back to
Ohio University’s Women’s golf team traveled to Port Clinton, OH this past weekend to participate in the Rocket Classic. The Lady Bobcats would end up finishing with a total score of 923, which would be good enough for second behind only the host school, the University of Toledo.
The Lady Bobcats started the tournament out very strong as they finished their first round with a total score of 309. It would only get better from there for Ohio as they would go to shoot a 306 in the second round and a 308 in the third and final round of play.
Toledo, the winner of the tournament, was exceptional throughout as they finished with a total score of 889. In the first round, the Lady Rockets posted a score of 300, in the second round they posted a tournament low of 289 and in the third and final round they posted another 300.
Leading the way for the Lady Bobcats was Hailey Hrynewich. Hrynewich would end the tournament in fourth place and with a total score of 223, which were only three strokes behind the leader. Hrynewich started out her tournament somewhat slow, as she shot a 79 in the first round. She would go on to improve that score as she shot a 72 in both the second and third rounds.
Coming in seventh place in the tournament and second place for Ohio was Nicole Smiley. Smiley started out her tournament extremely strong as she would end up being tied for first after the first round with a score of 74. Smiley would falter just a little though as she ended up with a score of 76 in her second round and a 79 in her final round.
Toledo ended up with the top three performers from the tournament. Manisa Isavas finished first with a score of 220, Sathika Ruenreong and Morgan Salm would finish tied for second with a score 221.
The Lady Bobcats only have one more tournament during their fall season, as they will be heading to Noblesville, Indiana to take part in the MAC Fall Preview.
